While most of us were enjoying our Saturday, the USCG
Auxilary along with nine other agencies were responding to a real-
world scenario drill. This drill, where a simulated small plane
crashed with missing and injured passengers, started at 6:30 a.m.
Within minutes the USCG Auxilary arrived on site with their
boat and crew to search to bay and shoreline. Six hours and 40
minutes later, all injured passengers and plane debris were located.
There were over 140 persons involved in this exercise that
included: US Coast Guard, US Coast Guard Auxillary, Civil Air
Patrol, US National Reserve Corps, Lillian Volunteer Fire Dept,
Orange Beach Fire and Rescue, Daphne Search and Rescue, Lower
Alabama Search and Rescue, Perdido Beach Fire Dept, and
Escambia Search and Rescue.
